The beaches of southern Alcossebre follow one another along the coast from Playa Romana to Manyetes. From north to south they are: Playa Romana, El Moro, Tres Platges and Manyetes. They're quieter than the Cargador and offer a bit of everything: fine sand for families, coves between rocks and pebble beaches with crystal-clear water. Further south is Serradal beach, a natural pebble beach.

Playa Romana
Playa Romana is the widest of the southern beaches: about 500 metres of fine, accessible sand with a Blue Flag. It's the beach of the Casablanca complex, which sits right on the seafront. You'll find all the details in the Playa Romana guide.

El Moro beach
El Moro beach is a small beach, about 300 metres long and 30 wide, of fine sand between rocks. It has lifeguards, showers and toilets, and in 2026 it flies the Blue Flag. Its size makes it more sheltered than the Romana: a good option if you want the feel of a cove without giving up facilities.
Tres Platges (Three Beaches)
Tres Platges are three small coves in a row, about 400 metres in total, of fine sand and pebbles. It's an unsupervised bathing area, meaning there are no lifeguards: swim with care and, if you have children with you, choose one of the beaches with a lifeguard. In return, the atmosphere is more natural and peaceful.
Manyetes or Tropicana beach
Manyetes, also known as Tropicana, is about 400 metres long. It has sand along its northern stretch and pebbles to the south, a setting of dunes and a peaceful atmosphere, with a campsite nearby. In 2026 it has a Blue Flag. If you like crystal-clear water and don't mind pebbles, bring water shoes.

Further south: Serradal or L'Estany beach
South of Manyetes is Serradal beach (L'Estany), the longest in the municipality: some 1,600 metres of pebbles, very natural, with a small delta at the mouth of the San Miguel river. Don't confuse it with another Serradal beach inside the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, north of town. It's a beach for long walks and for anyone who wants space.
The southern beaches compared with the northern ones
North of Playa Romana are Alcossebre's other two town beaches: the Carregador, the main beach (about 850 × 70 m, with an unbroken Blue Flag since 1987 and a seafront promenade), and Les Fonts, by the marina, known for the freshwater springs that bubble up in the sand. Beyond the marina begin the coves of the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, which have no lifeguards or facilities.
| Area | Beaches | Ideal for |
|---|---|---|
| North | Les Fonts, Carregador | Atmosphere, promenade and facilities |
| South | Romana, El Moro, Tres Platges, Manyetes | Peace and quiet and a variety of coves |
| Far south | Serradal (L'Estany) | Long walks on a natural beach |
Exploring the southern beaches in a morning
A good plan for a spring or autumn morning is to visit the southern beaches one after another, from the Romana to Manyetes. You'll see how the coast changes: from the fine sand of the Romana to the rocks of El Moro, the coves of Tres Platges and the pebbles of Manyetes. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water and sun protection.
Which southern beach to choose
- With young children: Playa Romana, for its fine sand and accessibility, or El Moro, with lifeguards.
- For swimming in crystal-clear water: Manyetes.
- For a natural, uncrowded setting: Tres Platges, with care as it isn't supervised.
- For an unhurried walk: Serradal (L'Estany), the longest beach in the municipality.
Tips for the southern beaches
- Pebble beaches are more comfortable with water shoes.
- The small coves have little natural shade: bring a parasol and water.
- Respect the dunes and vegetated areas: they're protected spaces of great value.
If you'd rather stay right by the sea, compare the beachfront apartments or see the official information on Alcossebre's beaches and coves.
